Danial/Daniel/Danish...

written by naz on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 3:46 PM.

I am somehow overly hyper today for apparently no reason. Maybe it's because I'm so demotivated this semester that I find joy in every other thing hence the multiple entries.

So I was reading this http://macvaysia.com/?p=142#more-142 and couldn't help but agree how overly rated the name is. Sure, I think people like the fact that the name is very universal but I can practically swear that there's more than ten Danial's/Daniel's/Danish's (along that line) in my brother's school; like a Daniel in every other class.

Would you like to be called on in school and have about five other kids jerk their heads up? Then the teacher would have to start calling you by your last names. Chances are, friends would start calling you by your father's name too to differentiate you from the other Daniel's. If you've gone to boarding school, I'm sure it's not a rare case for people with similar first names.

I completely detest it when people mispell my name. They always miss the last 'h'. I'm not trying to be racist but Chinese people have this tendency of mispronouncing my name... or every other name with a 'z' in it. It seems to automatically convert to a 'j' and it always just irritates me to a Z. Most times when that happens, I feel like ignoring the call and shrieking "... that's not my freakin name!!!"

What I'm trying to say is that I think your name is a very personal thing. It's you and no one else. It's what you respond to and how you are acknowledged. So if your name is like about a 1000 others within a radius of 50km, how unique does that make you?

Lala Laaa!

First and foremost, DAMN THE OIL HIKE WEY!!! 30sen per litre!!??? Like my pockets aren't burning a hole already!!!

Chill naz, chill. Breathe in... breathe out.

Oookkkaaaayyyyyy.

Well it's getting really dusty here. My lack of updates does not mean my life is THAT mundanely boring(in denial). But recently I've just been so malas to update here... just somewhere else. Maybe I need a new layout.

And yes, I did just return from the land of the Pyramids which was superb, a whole new interesting experience. But no, I did NOT bring back pasir(apart from those in my shoes) or did any form of Egyptian dance or belly dancing like some of you have been asking me about.

Yea, so there. Just for the sake of updating and flagging my existence. I'll write an entry on my journey to Egypt soon(don't count on it) and include a few pictures as well. So until then... and stop bugging me to update! Haha.

Last but not least, DAMN THE OIL HIKE WEYYY!!!

Green Minty Toothpicks

written by naz on Monday, February 06, 2006 at 12:33 PM.

My family and I were having a hearty meal at one of our favourite restaurant for little get togethers. Diving for the full course, I had my tummy filled to the brim (knowing me). All had gone well; good food, good company until... my lil brother decided to pick on his teeth and well... sniffed it.

Really, it was disgusting! He even had the cheek to defend himself by saying he was only trying to see if the minty flavour of the toothpick still remained. Ewww. Now this definitely does not run in the family. Because then, I'd hate to think from whom it passed on from. It was a good laugh though.
