Back in high school, I had this friend that pretty much bore a twisted sense of humour like yours truly. If someone pulled a joke or something funny happened, all we had to do was look at each other knowingly and burst into cackles of laughter.
I remember how uncontrollable it was during Form 1, dah la masing-masing duduk depan. Gelak-gelak sampai muka merah-merah, sakit-sakit perut, keluar air mata semua. Teachers who came in to teach would often ask what was so funny and whether we had something to share with the class. Lagila bantai gelak. At a certain point in the year, we were moved away from each other and that sort of subsided our crazy inside jokes.
But paling best was when there was a so-called occasion to celebrate. Like when we scored in our papers or failed chemistry miserably (note the different extremes) or some other merepek-calling-for-celebration occasions,
Kalau orang lain cakap, "Let's go yumchaaa!", he on the other hand would say, "Apa lagi naz, Bak Kut Teh aaa jom!" Hahah!
... and it became a stupid joke among us.

...it reminded me of him. Mun Chiew if you're reading this, I miss hanging out and gelak-gelaking with you!
**Bak Kut Teh- A broth normally served in a claypot consisting of herbs and spices boiled together with pork-- famous among Chinese in this region.
Today I bumped into an old primary school crush. I can't believe my heart still made double flip-flops when I saw him after all these years. Dengan matanya yang bisa meluluhkan jiwa ragaku... haihhhhh. Bila nak lalu depan rumah saya lagi macam dulu-dulu tuuu?
Any of you seen Casino Royale yet? If you haven't, you should. Now normally I'm not a big fan of Bond but I really liked this one. And the fact that Daniel Craig is sooo fine helped a lot too. He might be old but wrinkly he is not! His air of mystery and well-endowed physique fuhhhh... daripada si Brosnan yang control macho tuh. Yerchhh!
There's this cute salesguy in one of the shops in KLCC. I'm not gonna say which kedai because you knowlah, some of you might actually go and check out. Lotsa freaks lurking around the cyberworld these days you know. So the first time I went (ceyy, nampak sangat dah pegi lebih 1 kali kan!), I saw him as I was leaving the store.
At first tak perasan but caught a glimpse of cuteness worth looking at so I made a double turn to have a 'better' look. Alamak! Dia pun pusing tengok saya! Blush-blush, scurries off. Aih call me perasan tapi betul okayyyy. Second time control macho sket, bak kata my friend John Tucker style... haha.
I know pointless entry... but you guys like reading other people's crap kan. So this is the worst of mine.
"I've had a crush on you since we met. Couldn't you tell, the way I was ignoring you?" Anything Else (2003)

I have this friend who'd occasionally call me up when she's stuck on translations. You know how sometimes when you know the word but it just doesn't seem to pop out? So yea, when I'm in the right frame of mind, I try and help her out. One fine day, she asked...
Sometimes, yang senang pun jadi susah...
"An apple is an excellent thing-- until you have tried a peach." --George du Maurier
Her: Eh naz, what's peach in Malay? I've been trying to figure it out but can't seem to get it. I know it's within me somewhere but tak dapat-dapat.
Me: *thinks a bit* Uhh... pic???
Her: PEACH??? Ye ke!? Tu je? HAHAHAhahahHAhahah!
Me: I guess so... that's what it says on juice cartons. But spelt p-i-c, pic! HahahahHAhh!
Her: So pic je la eh!?? Confirm??
Me: Yeee pic!
Her: Hahahah!

You know what, I hate being called maklong. I have so many anak sedaras and the fact that when I see them and their mothers gesture their sweet little things to salam this cute maklong here, it makes me feel so ooolllldd! Arrghh!
Know what my adorable niece calls me now? Aunty-maklong.
Great. Talk about balance.
Me: Apa maklong-maklong!? Aunty lah! Maklong tak glamour langsung. Maklong dah banyak dah. Tu maklong, sana tu pun maklong jugak. Nanti confuse. Ni aunty oke? Cakap... aauunnn-tyyyyyy.
Niece: *stares up blankly*

Today I made the 1 and a half hour drive home after realizing I didn't have any classes tomorrow. I also have a cousin's wedding to attend. Upon reaching home and waiting for what felt like forever before my mom finally opened the gates, I was greeted by a peck on the cheek from my 10yo bro.
He's very affectionate unlike my youngest bro who'd squirm and wriggle away when I smother him with kisses. Yang sorang ni pasrah je. I don't really kiss the big ones coz they always stink... heck I don't know of what but they just stink, haha. But I digress.
My youngest brother had 2 friends over from his sekolah agama. You see, my brothers go to this religion school in a kampung area. It seemed like the nearest one around and it was important that they had a proper religion schooling apart from the mengaji and agama subject taught in school. I really cannot fathom the schooling system in this state but it's just different from what I've grown accustomed to.
My mom and I suka layan budak-budak, especially the witty ones. These kids my brother invited home were from what we could conclude, from below average class families. But I swear they were the most polite 9yo's I've ever met. They posessed a form of maturity that is definitely not common among any 9yo's I've ever come across. Not even my brother. We got a chance to borak-borak with them over fries and chicken drummets...
Can you believe it? Some of us takde duit nak makan pun. How deeply menginsafkan is that? Despite all that, I think the parents raised pretty good, smart, decent kids.
It doesn't take much to excite and put a smile on some of us.

Mom: Habistu lepas sekolah awak duduk rumah nenek, malam makan rumah nenek ke balik rumah?
Boy: Balik rumah, ayah jemput. Makan kat rumah, kadang-kadang tak makan.
Mom: Apsal tak makan pulak?
Boy: Takde lauk.
Mom: Eh apasal pulak takde lauk? Mak awak tak masak ke? Beli makanan ke?
Boy: Yela takde lauk sebab takde duit.

Mom: Banyak dapat duit raya?
Boy: *pouts* Takdela banyak sangat.
Mom: Kenapa? Tak banyak jalan raya ke?
Boy: Banyak jugak jalan, tapi ada rumah orang tak bagi duit raya.
Me: Awak mintak je laaa! (saje nak test)
Boy: Eh seganla, tak kan nak mintak. Tak baik mintak dengan orang duit tauu.
Me: Ooh dapat makan kira okela tu kan?
Boy: Ha'ah! *grins*

I have been away for a few weeks and finally updating after much persuading from some. I always berazam to update more during holidays but I unfortunately never get to doing that. Looks like I'm happier doing nothing and basking in the holiday air seems more exciting than updating blogs. Isn't it a wonder how when you're at your busiest, time tulah idea melimpah-melimpah and sibuk-sibuk nak update blog? Happens to me everytime!
As noted in one of my previous entries, raya this year for the first time in my life was without my dad which was sad... the feeling that something is not quite there despite the crazy festivities going around. We did the best we could in keeping up the raya spirits, cooking up rendang, rebus ketupat (not ketupat segera oke?), sambal kacang... the whole deal! My bros even went to aunt's to help with the bakar lemangs so yes we had lemangs too for raya. Managed to even make 3 cookies this year and of all times... made popiah. I know, a bit off there. Raya sangat meriah! The relative turnout was gi-normous on both sides!
4 jejaka perasan.
Crazy siblings and cousins.
The whole raya week was spent going to relatives' homes, both maternal and paternal sides. Tu pun tak habis cover lagi. Believe it or not, I managed to get duit raya oke, laku lagi nampaknya diriku ini sebagai kanak-kanak. Total duit raya collected from relatives this year is RM177. Not bad right?? Adalah jugak daripada sesetengah yang dapat RM3 tu. Hahaha!
One of the highlights of this year's raya was during a visit to one of my nenek sedara's in Negeri Sembilan. My uncle had recently come up with a family tree consisting of my mom's maternal family tree of up to 7 generations. How cool is that!? Apparently an earlier version of the first few generations was compiled by an ancestor in 1968 and my uncle came up with the rest of it. So the family tree constructed tu sampai my generation je, meaning cousins punya anak-anak not included. It was very interesting holding up the big scroll of paper with possibly history written behind all of these ancestors' names written in intricate jawi. Even those who died in Mekah were noted. I got Acheh ancestors oke! I can't wait to go to my uncle's to get a copy and marvel at his storytellings.

Second week into raya, my dad finally returned from 2 months of gruelling in Harvard... without his belly! Abah sudah bertambah hensem tanpa perutnya yang buncit (minus the balding head)! The best part was the goodies he brought back with him, saya sungguh gumbira!
My precious!
I'm such a bag whore, I really am. I have bags I haven't even worn but own. Knowing my obsession, abah generously bought me two bags and a wristlet. A cute hobo and the new legacy stripe wristlet from Coach plus a croc skin embossed purse from Guess. Notice the Harvard pencil? Abah bought some other Harvard merchandise like T-shirts and apetah lagi... so don't laugh if you see me clad in one pretending to be smart. He also bought this....
80GB video iPod, iPod nano and accessories.Tadaaaaa! I am now the proud owner (*gloat gloat*!) of a spanking new 80GB video iPod named Poddy!!! I'm spoilt I know but you don't see me complaining, do you? Muahahaha! The iPod nano is for my 2 lil brothers to share. My other 2 bros are now fighting over my old 60GB iPod which is barely a year old purchased in Dubai earlier in Feb. Much to their despair, my mother wants to claim reign over it. Ini menimbulkan ketidakpuasan hati of the 2 bros who protest that the iPod is too canggih for her considering that she even has trouble operating her simple phone. May the best man win!
Last but not least... treats to drown in...

Indulging Hershey's chocolates!
Now imagine my face poking out from the middle of all that. I tell you, that'll be me in heaven. Click on picture for a clearer view of the vision of me in absolute bliss.
And that's my Raya folks. Seronok bukan?
Will upload other Raya pictures soon hopefully...

I'm back with a new layout of bright orange after so looonggg! Reminds me of oranges. Anyway, fasting at home and spending Raya without having to worry of exams like my other friends from other universities is definitely exciting. Barulah riang ria hari raya namanya!
