Cheesecake!

written by naz on Sunday, January 28, 2007 at 3:52 PM.

I finally did get around baking a cheesecake! It's the easiest thing to do since I made a non-baked one. If you want to cut down on the calories, get a less-fat cheese and butter and go easy on the sugar. Cik Noor and Fira, sorry yah tak sempat nak jamu you all for tea. Heheh. I promise I'll bake you guys another one soon!

Presenting my Non-baked Oreo Cheesecake!

Note for Cik Azura: Zuraaaa! Go easy on the baking rampage! I know how it is looking at all those cute little cupcakes, it's more fun baking them kan? Heheh.

Semasa Cuti Sekolah...

written by naz on Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 1:56 AM.

As expected, time cuti lagi malas nak update. I start class next week and so far I've only baked walnut brownies (mana pegi niat nak bake cupcakes, I also dunno!) and have not read any books unless you count Reader's Digest and other misleading feminine mags that I continue to buy nevertheless. I've been such a couch potato I cannot even begin to tell you how much of a lazybum I've been but at the same time very much contented at not having to worry of anything. Intended to go to Bandung with mom but the travel agent advised us not to coz of the unpredictable weather, turbulence and all. Haih. But I'll still make that cheesecake. I will, I will! Sila bagi semangat!

They kinda taste better than they look, haha.

I have a crazy pile of books to read and I still didn't get around to do that. Oh goodness, I have to stop buying and start reading. I wrote a piece on the flood (I know bosan!) so I hope it makes the cut so that I get paid and can save my butt on my overly insane fetish for bags. I swear it's getting crazier by the day. On the MRT in Singapore a few months ago, I missed a stop coz I was busy gawking at this girl's bag. Sungguh mengarut!

Anyways, my favourite month of the year is coming to an end (already!). I spent my birthday shopping like mad with fira. Drove from Melaka in the morn and the minute we arrived KL our shopping hormones were kicking like mad and driving us nuts. Si fira ni boleh pulak overshadow birthday girl dengan meroyan melebih-lebih, sungguh tak patut mencuri limelight aiii! Takpe darling I forgive you. Shop terlebih, makan terlebih. How to be productive di samping mendapat offer Schlumberger kalau begini fira oi?

Me feasting on BBQ buffet.

Bila makan-makan yang best dan banyak ni, it always reminds me of 4 people. Mun, Fira, Zuren and Ilmi. One day if I get to congregate these 4 friends ni... dan makan sampai tersandar and semua diam kekenyangan... fuhhh that'll be the ultimate bomb! Seperti fira yang kekenyangan sehingga she didn't even feel like talking to me anymore. Hahah! Sungguhpun letih berjalan satu hari, kegembiraan jelas terpancar dari sinar matamu fira darling! *wink wink!*

Aah I'll update by this week if I get around to bake the cheesecake... otherwise, you'll know what happened.
Hihi.

2007 Kicking In!

written by naz on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 12:31 AM.

When I thought 2006 couldn't have gone any worse apart from what I had already gone through, the worse did come. There are things and people you thought were so tangible there's no way anything could get in the way but when reality hits you in the face and you somehow manage to unravel the other side, there are unknown truths you wish you never knew. At times I wish I could be heard, so some people would comprehend the truth; to be able to justify so many things... but in the end, why bother? People will always have their own perspective of you even when they don't know you. You just have to know that you are not always wrong and others aren't always to blame.

2007 creeped in slowly and steadily for me. I met up with old school friends at a small gathering in Hartamas and it just felt so good to go back in time a little and catching up with my old mates. Some have graduated, some pursuing postgraduate studies, some earning almost double than that of a fresh engineering graduate (aaackkk! tak puas hatinyaaa!), some opening up restaurants even. It was just so wonderful to see how far we've all gone since school and how far we've diverged and intertwined along the way. One of us is getting married this month and they've actually been together eversince school! 6 years down the road, they are finally tying the knot. What a sweet ending to a love story. I still remember how Lay Sye's ambition was to be a florist!

My Bak Kut Teh friend was also there. Haha... after soo long. Had the honour to meet his girlfriend Daphne and I was so touched when she mentioned how much she has heard of me and how Mun Chiew and I are such good friends. It's great that everyone is doing so well and hopefully one day we'll all cross each other's paths at the top. Thanks to ma chere Iris for getting us to gather.

I also attended a friend's wedding recently. Got a ride from Zuren dearest and witnessed Syafiq wed the love of his life in a simple ceremony in Putrajaya. Syafiq's wedding managed to congregate some friends of whom I haven't met in ageeesssss and it was fun catching up with them too. One thing that touched me during his joyous day was a song played during the montage screening. They played Shania Twain's 'From This Moment On'. I was telling Zuren how much I've always wanted that song to be played during my wedding and I'll see that it's made happen one day (cewahh cewahh!). When it does, I'll prolly cry bucket loads! The uniqueness of Syafiq's wedding was despite the traditional wedding costume, the tunes that filled the air was soo not. I asked Zuren, "Eh dia main English songs je ke?" Maybe they did play some Malay wedding songs in the beginning but since we came a little later... we probably missed it.

Now I'm at home, basking in a little freedom before my new trimester starts. I intend to read a couple of books I've been putting on hold, bake some cakes and cupcakes just for the heck of it and spend some quality time with family. So far 2007 is kicking off pretty well, hopefully things will look up even better for the remaining months of the year. Have a great year people!

Zuren, Ilmi... mari Cuti-cuti Malaysia 2007!

Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us. --Hal Borland
